Professor (Dr) Brij Kishore Sharma
Dr. Brij K. Sharma is a Senior Professor of Zoology, Former Joint Director, Department of Higher Education, Govt. Of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India former member secretary, State Level Quality Assurance Cell (SLQAC) and Former Member, Rajasthan State Higher Education Council (RSHEC). He’s also the National Convener, Higher Education Co-ordination Cell, Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sansthan, Jaipur and Jaipur District Convener of Vigyan Bharati, Rajasthan
A Foreign member of the prestigious Royal Society of England (ForMemRS), he is a proud recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship at the University College London (UCL), London. He has also been bestowed with a visiting fellowship jointly administered by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the University of Heidelberg, Germany and the coveted Royal Society Incoming Fellowship at the University of Nottingham, UK. Dr. Sharma has published books and research papers in national & international journals.
As one of the key members of the core committee on “discontinuation of animal dissections and experimentation on animals in life sciences in Indian universities & colleges constituted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) – the apex body governing higher education machinery in India and the ministry of human resource development (MHRD), Govt. of India during 2010-14, he was instrumental in working towards achieving a nation-wide ban on animal dissections in Indian universities & colleges way back in 2014.
He is a life member of the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA); member, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Switzerland and member, Society for Conservation Biology, Washington DC.
